I come home from lunch and I notice my car, which is normally parked in front of my house, was in front of my neighbor's house. I thought that was strange. Apparently, I forgot to pull the e-brake last night after getting pizza and the car rolled. Thank God there was an edge of a curb to stop it or that would have been really bad. I am not proud of this, but hey these things happen. Car-porn unrelated.

Well, there's a little incline out of my home's entrance, and I usually pull the handbrake when I stop on it to go out to close the gate. Some years ago I didn't pull it enough... when I looked at the car after closing the gate it was in the middle of the street. Thank God and my Guardian Angel, no one was on the sidewalk and no car was coming, and it's a two-way road...

Happened to me with my very first car, a 69 Beetle. Parked it at my parent's house one night and the cops were banging on the door at 11 PM. They did a field sobriety test on me. I passed, I was 17 and not drinking or anything, just bewildered. Then they told me they found my car in a neighbor's front yard! I had parked on a hill and it had just rolled away. Luckily it only ended up in someone's front yard and not in someone's living room (which would have been very likely if it hadn't rolled slightly to the right). Since then I always put the e-brake on and point the tires towards the curb!

I did a similar thing once. I stayed up all night to finish a project for grad school. I drove to Kinko's to print it, and when I left the store, my car was gone. Then I saw it sitting in the middle of the street. I had left it out of gear and hadn't pulled the E brake and it rolled out of the lot and into the side street. Fortunately, it was 4:00 am and it didn't hit anything.

One time, I was housesitting for a neighbor, and I parked my Ranger in their driveway, which has a slight incline. I normally park on the street, which is graded level. I set my parking brake as usual, but apparently not hard enough - I watched a slight breeze roll it out of the driveway and directly into a neighbor's truck, parked perfectly directly across from the driveway my Ranger was in, all from the vantage point of the kitchen window.
And a girl was over. yeah. it was bad.

Last week I forgot to check if I had left my car in gear before letting off the clutch just after starting it. It lurched forward some. If it weren't for the hand brake my car would have hit the wall it was parked in front of.

I had gotten very little sleep the night before. That woke the shit out of me.

Hah happened to me today at the museum. Scratched the bumper a bit, but nothing too serious

Glad it was "no harm, no foul".

I've always left mine in gear; is there a reason you don't?

Remote starter wont work if the car is in gear.

Most embarrasing? Pager goes off for a tow call at 3am, went outside to find the tow truck had rolled backwards out of my driveway and was (diagonally) blocking our one way street. It missed cars parked on either side of it and was resting against the opposite curb. Whoops! Nobody honked or knocked or anything! Haven't forgotten to set a parking brake since. (About 20 years ago)
